AMD veteran Tony Fernandez-Stoll joins Carbice to drive data center market expansion

Carbice, a technology company combining mechanical systems, thermal management, and material science expertise to cool next-generation technology, announced the appointment of Tony Fernandez-Stoll as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Mr. Fernandez-Stoll brings over 30 years of experience in the technology industry to Carbice, with two decades spent in leadership at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). He will oversee the company’s global sales and marketing organization, with responsibility for all aspects of revenue generation, including market expansion, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships.

Carbice’s scalable, high-performance cooling expertise and solutions seamlessly eliminate heat generation to ensure long-term hardware performance and reliability, with little upkeep and minimal environmental impact. By uniquely focusing on the interface, Carbice’s physics-based approach, leveraging aligned carbon nanotube technology, sets a new benchmark in reliability and performance for data center hyperscalers and critical power suppliers looking to eliminate excessive heat, lengthen the lifespan of hardware, and prevent system failure.

Prior to joining Carbice, Tony spent 20 years at AMD, the latter portion focused on high-performance computing solutions for data centers. At Carbice, Mr. Fernandez-Stoll will define revenue strategy and oversee the company’s global sales organization. Serving as a strategic and analytical business advisor to the CEO, he will also lead the development and execution of Carbice’s go-to-market strategy, further supporting the company’s global footprint. With the appointment of Tony, Carbice is poised to partner with data industry leaders to develop scalable thermal interface solutions to prevent hardware damage, data loss, and system failure without sacrificing affordability and ease.

“I am thrilled to join Carbice at this pivotal time,” said Tony Fernandez-Stoll. “With the advancements of AI and continuous race for performance leadership, creative thermal management solutions are more critical than ever. Carbice’s scalable and adaptable thermal interface solutions are uniquely positioned to meet these challenges, and I look forward to leading our efforts in key markets like data centers and critical power systems.”

Mr. Fernandez-Stoll has extensive experience across various market segments and regions, including Latin America. Most recently, Tony was the Vice President of OEM sales at AMD, responsible for revenue across all product segments including datacenter and client notebooks and desktops.

“Tony’s impact from two decades at AMD is truly remarkable,” said Dr. Baratunde Cola, CEO and Founder of Carbice. “His extensive experience and proven track record will be invaluable as we expand our presence in rapidly growing sectors like data centers. There is no one we’d rather have on board to help drive our mission to support our customers with reliable cooling expertise and deliver the only thermal interface solutions made for scaled operations.”

Carbice’s thermal interface solutions are designed to meet the evolving needs of data centers, notably with the explosion of AI. According to a report by McKinsey & Company, global demand for data center capacity could rise at an annual rate of up to 22% from 2023 to 2030, reaching an annual demand of 171 to 219 gigawatts. This surge underscores the critical need for advanced thermal management solutions to ensure efficient and reliable operations. Carbice is the only high-performance thermal interface solution made for scaled operations and can match this pace. This accelerates design cycles, assembly, re-work, and repair, and offers a game-changing supply chain partnership to the fastest-moving companies in the industry. With Tony Fernandez-Stoll’s leadership, Carbice is poised to make significant strides in addressing thermal challenges posed by AI workloads, high-performance computing (HPC), and next-generation technology.
